Hyperparathyroidism—an overproduction of parathyroid hormone—is too often underdiagnosed and goes undertreated, particularly in the elderly. Several possible reasons for the delay in evaluating patients with hyperparathyroidism suggest a need for patients, particularly those who are older.1-3
