Diagnosed with Hypothyroidism

From: Ari1991 - 2 years 46 weeks ago

Today I got a call from my pcp informing me that I have Hypothyroidism. It was about 10:15 in the morning and I woke up to a family member handing me the phone. I answered it and talked to one of the nurses from my clinic. She told me I've been prescribed Levothyroxine at 25 mg. My Initial reaction was rolling over and falling back to sleep but the news hit me and suddenly I was wide awake having an anxiety I normally do. I called my clinic back and asked if they could explain my diagnosis to me (which) they did and I decided after hanging up, I'll suck it up and do what I have to do...that was until I read the side effects of the medication I've been prescribed. I'm not a vain person but I really don't want to lose my hair.

When I was a small child I had lost patches of my hair and gotten sores in my scalp which persisted for a few years. I remember crying out of frustration because it wouldn't grow or because the state of it was horrible all the way around.

I'm really trying to remain calm but is hair loss really a large part of taking levothyroixine?
