Tingling in face when chewing after thyroidectomy.

From: TASAN - 7 weeks 1 day ago

I had a thyroidectomy a week ago today, yesterday I started getting this intense tingling sensation in my face, around the jaw line, when ever I would eat and itd get worse with chewing, but then fade off. I've searched like a mad man, trying to find something of this saying its normal, before I call my doctor, but have had no luck. Has anyone had this after their thyroidectomy?

Your blood calcium level may fall after a thyroidectomy, and common signs of low calcium may include numbness and tingling. If you haven't already, you should call your doctor to say that you are having this reaction. They will likely monitor your blood calcium to be sure that your levels of this mineral as well as vitamin normal fall in the normal range.
