Surgery, Thyroid Meds & Weight

From: Simplysls - 3 years 7 weeks ago

Hi Fourm Friends,
I’m 37 years old & I have had a thyroid nodule growing on my left thyroid for nearly 10 years. It’s gotten very big over that period of time. I’ve been on Synthyroid .88 since finding the nodual in my early 20’s.
On May 22, 2018 I’ll be having surgery to remove the left side of my thyroid & nodual. (I’m very nervous about surgery of course).
Because I always feel so tired & gain weight extremely easily, I decided to switch to a drug called Natures Thyroid about a year ago under my OBGYN’s suggestion and after 6 months was really feeling pretty good. My new endo however, doesn’t like that drug, telling me it would stop working after a few years. She has switched me back to Synthyroid about 3 months ago. I feel like crap again. I’m SO tired & cant seem to loose weight with anything I try!! Before my thyroid had a problem, I weighed 120lbs & could eat practically anything without any problems. My family is all very thin, except my mother who also has a bad thyroid. Now if I even look at a cookie, cake, chips, etc. I feel as if I gain weight!! I’m on a 1300-1400 cal diet, & workout 6 times a week with a trainer, but still nothing! I’ve never been this heavy in my life, weighing in at 167 about 1 month ago and 170 about 1 year ago. I’m wondering if after the surgery and the nodual is removed, will it be easier to loose weight & feel less tired possibly? Has anyone experienced anything positive after surgery or has it been an even harder struggle? What advise can you give me? Will i gain a ton of weight or will it perhaps be easier to loose it?
I’m also wondering if anyone has been on Nature’s Thyroid for a long period of time & have had positive results?
I miss my old body so much & still can hardly recognize this new one. I’m hoping for the best after my surgery, but I’ve heard a mix of stories...
(I do have lupus and fibromyalgia, so I know that plays a role too, but I had those when I was 14 years old and my weight was stable at 120lbs).

Thanks so much I’m advance,
