Low TSH, Toxic nodule, weight gain

From: hschweda - 1 year 39 weeks ago

In the past 6 months I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I have been experiencing symptoms of hypothyroidism for about 10 years, but my numbers have always been in normal range.
This summer I started to have heart palpitations and so my journey began. My TSH came back low (.058), my T3 and T4 were within normal range, but borderline. I underwent tests for Graves, had an ultrasound (during which they found 13 nodules), had a FNA (no cancer) and had a radioactive iodine uptake scan. The scan results showed a toxic nodule. The endo suggests RAI therapy, which will probably end up killing my thyroid. I am nervous that this will not solve my issues. This summer I was able to lose some weight, but all of a sudden it came back within one week. I had all of my numbers rechecked only to come back the same. Has anyone with these results undergone RAI? Did it work?
