radioactive iodine treatment for a hot nodule

From: toula - 3 years 17 weeks ago

I have a large hot nodule that is in the right side of my thyroid gland. It was discovered due to trying to find the reason for me being so very tired all the time. My numbers are slightly elevated(just above the normal line) causing hyperthyroidism. However, I more so have symptoms of hypothyroidism.

I have been advised to do the radioactive iodine treatment to shrink the nodule. I am concerned about this treatment destroying my thyroid gland. If I have this treatment, will it eventually destroy it?
