Armour

From: nelli - 51 weeks 1 day ago

Hi. I've been on Armour Natural Desiccated Thyroid Hormone from CVS pharmacy for years, but I have new Kaiser insurance and have to use their pharmacy. I just got a refill and the label states it's Armour that contains Levothyroxine 114mcg and Liothyronine 27mcg. Those are synthetic forms, which I have had a bad reaction to in the past. Since when does Armour make synthetics?
I don't have a thyroid anymore so I'm afraid to take this medication. I emailed my doctor but haven't heard back yet.

Doctor responded that I did in fact get the Natural Hormone. Apparently T4 is also referred to as Levothyroxine and T3 is referred to as Liothyronine.

I have never heard of this medication. But I know that doctors will push Levothyroxine on everyone that has Hypothyroidism. They receive a large kickback from the Pharmaceutical companies to prescribe it so they usually won't even acknowledge natural resources. I had to go to a naturopathic to get my prescription for it.

Hi nelli,

I'm sorry to hear that you no longer have your thyroid! Keep an eye on your symptoms and how you feel. Don't settle for "ok." T3 is the active hormone which your liver converts from T4. Since you are relying on the Armour, the trick is to make sure you are taking enough to replace what your thyroid would normally produce. It is also a good idea to support your adrenal glands as well - they produce hormones and work hand in hand with the thyroid. If you need further info, feel free to reach out to me for health consulting or simply herb/supplement protocols for your health. Best wishes!
