Hashimotos How long have i had it and not known

From: Tiptoe - 3 years 49 weeks ago

I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in Dec 2013, I was admitted to hospital with severe facial swelling and kidney failure, I was eventually tested and my TSH was 178 , ft4 2 , cholesterol level 9 and Anti TPO of 1300, I was very unwell, I have been taking Levothyroxine since then and my TSH has dropped to 2, however I still suffer all the symptoms (kidney function back to normal, and Cholesterol now 2).
Its very hard to make anyone understand how mentally and physically I feel and having read up as much as I can about this disease I feel that I may have been suffering for years but ignored the symptoms/put them down to age etc.
I have just seen that Hashimotos can cause vitiligo of the skin, about 9yrs ago I started to get a discolouration on my stomach around my belly button area, it was never diagnosed even when a biopsy was taken, it spread and I have a patch the size of about 7inches diameter where the pigment has all gone on my stomach. Is it possible this was caused by Hashimotos that i was unaware of having ?
Any advice would be grateful.
