Hashimoto's, nodule with Huerthle cells

From: Stacybrowne - 7 years 12 weeks ago

I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's. I had an ultrasound done and we found 2 nodules on the right side of my thyroid, one at 1.6cm and one at 1cm. I then had a FNA done and they found Huerthle cells. They could not give me a benign or malignant diagnosis. My ENT decided not to do surgery until the Hashimoto's was under control. I am supposed to go back in December (4 months from diagnosis) and have another ultrasound done to see if the nodules have grown or changed. My concern is that everything I have read with Huerthle cells seems to indicate thyroid cancer. An agressive form of thyroid cancer at that. Should I go ahead and insist they take out the right side? Anyone else have or have had this?
