Doctor wants to me to kill my thyroid radioactive iodine

From: blessed2do - 1 year 7 weeks ago

Had Sheehan's Syndrome from 1998 to 2009 then it turned to Graves Disease. On prednisone 7 years, methimizole 50 once a day, metropropol 20 mg a day since 2009. In pain all the time, tired all the time, also have debilitating fibromyalgia, and enlarged goiter and am getting worse. Doctor says today that I should kill my thyroid with radioactive iodine because I will feel better. My other Doctor says it won't matter because of the fibromyalgia I will still be in pain don't do it. Has anyone had their thyroid killed with radioactive iodine and would you do it again if you had a chance? Thank you so much everyone for any responses. God bless.

Hello, I have had RAI to kill my thyroid. I was pretty worried about it when they send it to me as well. My numbers were so high that they said it will be the most effective. I would have to agree. I got it done in March '17, my weight was about 120 when i had the procedure. After it I gained about 20 pounds in probably a couple month after. I do not know how fibromyalgia would effect this, but as scary as it sounds, I think this is a very effective way to make your thyroid stop producing those extra chemicals. hope this helps a little bit.
good luck!
