Hello everyone! I am in search of answers regarding my husbands' hyperthyroidism. He was diagnosed back in September when he stated having strange episodes where he would get really hot and develop these small red bumps under his skin. He is currently active duty military and this is really affecting his career. He had RAI treatment back in January and is still miserable! He can't go outside if it is even remotely warm because his internal temp goes crazy. He just wants the thyroid removed so he can get back to normal and not have this problem affect his re-enlistment. He went to see his endocrinologist yesterday and was told that no surgeon would operate on him while the iodine was still in his system! He refuses to send him to a surgeon for a consult. Does anyone know if this is actually true? We are at the end of our rope here and really need answers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is this good advice?

I am unsure if this is true, but i would highly advise to keep searching for a surgeon to remove his thyroid. I had my thyroid removed almost 3 years ago when i was 17 and although i have my moments when my levels get low, i would highly recommend having it out. I felt so much better afterwards.
