dosage changes in hypothyroidism

From: pianoteachermeb - 7 years 41 weeks ago

Does anyone out there know if after taking 18 years of the same dose of thyroid replacement that your doctor has to keep decreasing the amount?
30 years ago I was diagnosed with Graves Disease (hyperthyroidism)but after several years of taking medicine my thyroid went back to normal and I stopped taking the medication per doctor instruction. After the birth of my son 6 years later I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and placed on the same dose I have been on for the last 18 years. This last year the doctor has lowered my dose 4 times and still the levels are too high. Has anyone else had this experience? I am wondering if I am going back into the hypothyroidism of earlier years?
