what is the treatment

From: dairire - 3 years 21 weeks ago

Hello,
I have a TSH count of 2741 and Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody count of 1600.

The Nurse Practioner said it is auto-immune and to monitor it. I said I have all these other symptoms including weight gain despite working out and having low-calorie diet and I was dismissed. She said b/c the thyroid hormones where within normal range that the 'loop'was working properly

I wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience and what were you told. If you have an auto-immune disease is it typical to do nothing? If the body is attacking itself then there are going to be symptoms and why is there no practice to figure this out and help the patient to feel better?

Thanks
ÉC
