26 year old male with Hyperthyroidism, couple questions.

From: DillonM - 8 years 21 weeks ago

Ok, so I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism on April 2 this year and was put on Methimazole 5 mg 1 pill two times a day. I was referred to an Endo and I went to see her, and she did her own blood test. She called me back a week later and said my levels were still too high, so she had me take 2 two times a day. I took it until about 2 weeks ago on Monday when I broke out in an allergic rash. I called her back and she told me to stop taking it, and pick up a new prescription for Propylthiouracil 25 mg 2 pills 3 times a day as soon as my rash clears up. So I pick that up on Friday morning 2 weeks ago, when my rash cleared up. I didn't start taking them until Saturday morning and after I took the second dosage at noon I started I started breaking out in Hives. They are still coming and going even right now. It keeps me up at night and Claritin and Benydryl are not working for me. They were when it started last week but they stopped working a couple days ago. Anybody got any suggestions.

Also when I called my Endo about the second rash, she told me to make a choice between the Radioactive Iodine or surgery. I already did my research and went with the surgery. I have an appointment, probably just a pre-screen before the surgery. I've read that the post op makes you gain weight. I've always been skinny my entire life. But I never actually ate healthy or exercised. I'm going to plan on it after I get the surgery though. Anybody have any suggestions?

Anything else I should know? Thanks.
