About Michael Shanik MD
Michael Shanik, MD, FACP. FACE. a board-certified endocrinologist and internal medicine physician and partner at Endocrine Associates of Long Island, in Smithtown, New York. He is also an associate professor of medicine at Stony Brook University Medical Center, and is a frequent speaker on thyroid disorders at national and international medical conferences.
Dr. Shanik earned his medical degree from New York Medical College after receiving a bachelor of science degree from Tufts University and. He completed his internal medicine residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York and a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System in Lake Success, New York.
Dr. Shanik is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and of the American College of Physicians and serves on several committees for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He received the Harold Vigersky Practicing Physician Award from the Endocrine Society (2012); was named Community Physician Teacher of the Year, Department of Family Medicine, at Stony Brook University Medical Center (2009); and has been featured in the Consumers’ Research Council of America’s “Guide to America’s Top Physicians” (2007-2011).
