About W. Todd Penberthy
Dr. Penberthy has over 15 years experience as a biomedical writer who regularly covers medical conferences and is an active member of the American Medical Writer’s Association. He has experience working in a variety of therapeutic areas including oncology, dermatology, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurodegenerative disease, women’s health, and arthritis.
He has researched and written physician clinical overviews, directory reports for burgeoning technologies, needs assessments, clinical evaluation reports, slide sets, book chapters, and scientific manuscripts.
Previously in academia, he obtained a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Tennessee, Memphis after identifying transcription factors involved in developmental oogenesis. As professor at the Genome Research Institute with the University of Cincinnati, he led a laboratory studying zebrafish models of human disease and established a working collaboration with a fortune 100 pharmaceutical company focused on drug discovery. He focused particularly on NAD-centric (Niacin, Sirtiuins, PARPs) targeted therapeutics, serving as an executive editor for NAD-thematic journals, writing grants, and has also written book chapters focused on nutrition.
