About Stephen M Rosenthal MD
Dr. Rosenthal is a professor of pediatrics, director of pediatric endocrinology clinics, and program director of pediatric endocrinology as well as co-director of the Disorder of Sex Development Clinic, and founder and medical director of the Child and Adolescent Gender Center, at the UCSF's Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco.
He is president of the Pediatric Endocrine Society, as well as the Society's representative to the Endocrine Society's Clinical Practice Guidelines Revision Task Force for the care of transgender individuals. He has authored multiple manuscripts on transgender youth, and is currently the Principal Investigator for an NIH/NICHD study on the impact of early medical treatment in transgender youth.
Dr. Rosenthal completed his undergraduate work at Yale University in New Haven Connecticut, and earned a medical degree at Columbia University where he also completed a residency in pediatrics. His fellowship training in pediatric endocrinology was completed at UCSF.
