why don"t Dr"s agree??

From: kittenx3 - 11 weeks 3 days ago

I am a 50 year old female, all my life I have had NO problem with weight. I have always been very active, happy and outgoing, In sept. 2006 my weight was 123lbs, I am 5"5" tall. that has been my weight my whole adult life, by dec 2006 i weighed 165lbs. when I first noticed myself gaing weight i dieted and exercised but kept gaing weight. finally went to the Dr in Jan 2007. run bunches of blood work, x rays, CT's. ultrasounds, had a radioactive iodine uptake test, Well everything showed I was hyperthyroid with a multinodular cystic goiter. I was placed on synthoid for three months to see if somehow my body would counteract what it was doing, but it didn't. since then nothing has really been done. I have a scan and ultrasound every six months. My Dr. saids it needs to come out, but the Surgon saids it not bad enough.
I am so misriable now i am at 183lbs, no energy, mentally I feel drained, physically I feel like crawling in bed and never getting up.
I just wih someone could make me feel like I use to. I know I will never be the same as I once was but something close would be good.

Hi,
I'm a hyperthyroid patient.
I've read that hyperthyroid patients tend to loose weight I'm surprised to know about your weight gain. I may not be able to suggest you any solution as such but my experience on thyroid forums might help you. I'm also going thro' tough time and I posted my query on half a dozen forums.
I got some sensible replies on one forum http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Thyroid-Disorders
One more suggestion is, if you posting anything related to thyroid disorder don't forget to mention thyroid function test results (T3, T4 and TSH)
All the best.
