SURGERY REMOVAL?

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE :)
Was just wondering if anyone who has had an overactive thyroid(hyperthyroid) has had the surgery to remove the thyroid? and if so,hows it going? and how was the surgery? I am considering having my thyroid removed.Its been really overactive for over 10 yrs. Thanks... Karen

I had hypothyroidism and had mine removed 3 years ago. The surgery wasnt bad, but my scar is still very visible. I get questions daily about what happened to my neck. Also, I would talk to different doctors before making your mind up because I only spoke to one and I believe that I may have been better off just keeping it in. My aunt had hyperthyroidism like you and she had it radioactively killed. That was about 10 years ago, she is doing great and hasn't really had any problems.
