Medication dosing

From: mandijo - 2 years 32 weeks ago

Hi everybody, Maybe somebody has a little insight for me. I am very confused. I had thyroid cancer and therefore had my entire thyroid removed. They are in the process of trying to find the right levels for me. So here is my question, with out a thyroid, does a lesser dosage of 75 mcg make you more hyperthyroid or does a higher dosage of 175 mcg make you more of the hyperthyroid? My dr, said they need to keep me at a more hyper level and are continuously lowering my medication. So I am thinking that the way the medication works for my situation is less meds more hyper? Is this the right thinking? I cant find information containing med number levels anywhere. I have also been gaining weight at fast pace so I would also like to know if the lower the dose will make that stop or make me gain more weight. Another thing is that my nails are so brittle they hurt.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Have you done your radiation yet? They normally keep u at a low level because you need to be off of it when you drink The radiation.
I take 225mcg of synthroid .... They told me they want to suppress my thyroid.
