Been having problems with adrenal glands
From: tdrake - 1 year 14 weeks ago
I have a problem of heart palpations, sweats, cold feet, bowel problems. I also have panic attack syndrome for years, but have had not much problems right now. It started around a year ago with the shingles, they misdiagnosed in E.R. I thought i was having a heart attack. Nothing I ever felt before. It has now progressed. I am now being checked for a tumor in the adrenal glands, and possible anywhere where it could travel. Now they have were missing something from lab that kaiser uses, far from where i live, so my second blood test not back. The first showed (metanephrines) a sign of pheochromocytomas. I also get a feeling of shocks in the heart area across my chest, i have low vitimin D. Anyone out there have this. sincerly linda

I'm right there with you. I have chills w/o fever at least 4 times a day with shivering; facial flushing with itching; chest pain w/pressure; shortness of breath. My doc thinks it is some sort of adrenal problem and is sending me to an endocrinologist. I went a year ago when my symptons were minor. They are getting worse. Sounds like you are going through the mill with lab work and tests. They have to eliminate a million things that it could be before they treat you. Of course, you would have something out of the ordinary....you aren't alone. Hang in there and keep posting.
Unrelated to my role at EndocrineWeb, I had similar problems and was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. It started by my going to the ER with chest pain, acid reflux, bad inestinal problems, and low calcium and vitamin d. definitely pursue the adrenaline angle and get a second opinion, but it can't hurt to have a gastro test you for the celiac enzymes. This site has great info on celiac disease: www.celiac.com.
Good luck and let the community know what you discover, the more we share the better off we all are.
This is what is going on with hubby. We went to the ER and they did a CAT scan and sure enough there was a mass on his right adrenal gland. He is suffering from panic attacks and never had those before and instead of our doctor checking him out fully he just handed him a script for Atavan!!! I am so angry because all of these months now there's actually been something wrong with him and NOT in his head.
he's also done a lot of sweating and now is depressed over the entire thing.
Hope they do a cat scan for you!!
I started with constipation a month ago and the muscle twitches, pain, sharp pain in toes, knife pain in legs, dull pain near bones of arms, stiffness, numbness and tingling in face. Not sleepin well with all of this going on all night so lots of fatique. I have goiters but last numbers looked good. About a week or 2 ago I started having chills and feeling cold to the point of turning up the heat and going back to bed with coat on. Sometimes it took hours to warm up. Body temp running around 96. Last night was the first time I noticed the sweating along with the chills. It is all very scary. My blood tested low in vit D a year ago and since I have taken it faithfully but calcium constipates me so bad, I can't take it effectively. Now I wonder is it my thyroid, adrenals, or pituitary? advice?
After all of this time have you gotten the likely diagnosis you should have gotten a long time ago which is hyperparathyroidism. We know your Vit D level is low, so most likely you should check calcium (don't let them tell you "10" is normal!!!!), PTH intact and see what your bone density is!
Did you eventually go to an endocrinologist? I sure would like to know what he said and if I should waste my time going to one. I have the same symptoms as your husband except I can add more. I am literally bouncing off the walls and have no warning before it happens. I walked in to a wall and broke my nose. Another time I walked in to another wall and broke the long bone in my left foot. My adrenal mass is on the left adrenal gland. I also run a temperature ( around 101 degrees) that starts around 5:00 PM, then after a couple of hours I start sweating. I guess the sweating gets worse while I sleep because my night gown is soaking wet along with my pillow. I have hypotension when I stand up and nearly fall over. Sometimes I look like I am walking like a drunken sailor. Two steps to the right then two to the left. It is really wierd and scares the heck out of my husband. I am always tired and spend most of the 24 hours I am given daily to do things, sleeping. Does anybody out there have anything like this. The doctor did a CT scan of my abdomen because I was having pain. I thought it was my bowel. The only thing they discovered was this mass (adrenal adenoma) on my left adrenal gland which measured 1.5 X 1.0 cm. My doctor never said anything about it and I only found out when I asked for a copy of my report. Do you think thy were not concerned because it was too small to worry about? From what I have read, the sooner you have a mass such as this removed the better, as it can metastasize to other organs, and also when it gets to be .4, it becomes cancer. I would like to hear from anyone out there that has anything like this and what they did. Thanks
My body wakes me up at least twice in the middle of the night and I feel a sodium imbalance. It feels like I am completely empty and chemically off balance. During a flu last year, I felt this and discovered at the hospital that I had a dangerously low level of sodium in me. So, I'm assuming that weak adrenal glands create a situation where the body does not retain sodium and potassium. I get up and eat something 2 bananas with salt on them, sometimes V-8 juice because it has high potassium and sodium content.
