About Priyathama Vellanki MD

Dr. Vellanki received her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and her medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. She then completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine and a clinical fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. During her clinical fellowship, she also completed a research fellowship as part of the Northwestern University Program in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Hormone Action. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine-Endocrinology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.  She sees patients with diabetes and supervises Endocrinology fellows at Grady Memorial Hospital which is one of the largest public hospitals in Atlanta, GA.

Dr. Vellanki has presented her research in national professional meetings for which she has won many awards including the Presidential Poster Award at the Endocrine Society. She has also published in peer-reviewed journals in the field of polycystic ovary syndrome and inpatient diabetes management. Her current research interests include management of inpatient hyperglycemia and epigenetic markers leading to changes in insulin sensitivity in ketosis-prone diabetes mellitus.
